ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Gregor!

I used to be a high-school teacher; now, I’m a UX and UI designer focused on creating meaningful, accessible digital tools - especially in education.

My journey into UX began during the pandemic, when my experiences teaching online revealed how deeply good (and bad) design can shape the daily lives of students, teachers, and families. Since then, I’ve made it my mission to design with empathy, clarity, and purpose. Today, I bring that mindset to my role as UX Designer and Editor UX Lead at Serlo.org, a non-profit platform dedicated to free, high-quality education for all.

At Serlo, I lead the UX work on our open-source WYSIWYG editor—a powerful tool used by a wide community of educators to create accessible learning content. It's used not only on Serlo.org but across various public LMS platforms throughout Germany. I collaborate closely with developers, product leads, and volunteer contributors to make the authoring process more intuitive, inclusive, and enjoyable.

I believe that equitable access to information and barrier-free digital tools are the keys to creating more justice and social good.

I believe that equitable access to information and barrier-free digital tools are the keys to creating more justice and social good.

This principle guided me as a teacher working with students of different learning styles, language abilities, and backgrounds—and it continues to guide me as a designer. Whether I'm running user interviews or sketching out flows, I aim to uncover real needs and build experiences that feel effortless and empowering.

I’m a world traveler but currently based in Berlin. I’ve also lived in NYC and am always on the hunt for the best bagel or slice of pizza. When I’m not designing, you’ll find me playing music, hiking with my three-legged dog, or loudly cheering for the Yankees.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me!

How I work

My UX mindset is grounded in three core principles: human-centered thinking, iterative processes, and data-informed decision making.

With a human-centered approach, I don't lose track of who I am designing for. Solid research data is the foundation for a product that solves real issues. I believe a digital product is never fully finished and needs constant evaluation and redesign in an iterative process. To keep my process structured, I use the design thinking process to keep me on track and ensure great results for my product team.

While always advocating for the user's needs, I also work to consistently balance this with business goals and what is technically feasible.

Let's get to know each other.
